‘’To synthesize the aims of Religion and the Methods of Science’

This was the mission of the original Equinox - a massive work printed during the early twentieth century in ten large volumes and several subsequent books. It has long been out of print, and even when available it is beyond the economic reach of many students. This one volume condensation contains all the important magickal writings from the original, edited and arranged by Israel Regardie so that the student can ‘find his way through the maze more easily’.

Crowley said of the Equinox: “My special job was to preserve the Sacred Tradition so that a new Renaissance might in due season rekindle the hidden light. I was accordingly to make a Quintessence of the Ancient Wisdom. And publish it in as permanent a form as possible.’

That renaissance is now. Here we have a “masterpiece of instruction’ - systematizing in masterful prose the subject matter of the the occult, stripping it of the “superstition, dross and fantasy” encrusted on it over the ages.

One section deals with the history, grades and official program for Crowley’s Own Magickal Order. The A.’. A.’.. Another deals with the Law for the New Aeon. A third is one of the most lucid texts on yoga available. A fourth delineates magickal rituals, which, like Yoga, serve to unite the mind to a single idea: an essential to the Great Work.

Her are included basic rituals, methods of consecration, of invocation of elements and elementals, the Mass of the Phoenix and the Gnostic Mass, and the sublime Vision and the Voice. Also included is a section on sex magic; Crowley’s own commentary on Blavatsky’s The Voice of Silence. And his invaluable comments on a program of exercises of one who became a Master of the Temple’.
