This is a sensitive, intimate, and moving study of Voodoo in Haiti, a counterpart to Maya Deren’s 52 minute video documentary of the same name. Despite the subject matter being approached as an ‘outsider’ by Maya Deren the study does not lack in empathy, indeed it speaks of openness and, ultimately, surrender, to the Lwa. We at Crucis Books have a very high opinion of this classic study and aim to promote it where possible.
